The first illustrated writing manual published in England, by the Huguenot Parisian writing master Jean de Beauchesne and the otherwise unknown Englishman John Baildon. It is likely that Beauchesne provided the French and Italian scripts and Baildon the English scripts, including this 'secretary hand', the archetypal cursive commonly used in Elizabethan England.

Transcribing this alphabet will help you examine its single (occasionally counterintuitive) letterforms. — Transcribe repeated letters only once in each box, differentiating upper and lower case forms. Expand abbreviations in brackets.
