The document may derive from the Jewish community in Sicily as it refers to Sicilian tari coins (טריים). Mentions Moses al-Ḡadāmasī (אלגדאמסי, i.e. from Ghadāmis in Libya), Judah b. Ṭabit (טבת), [Is]aac he-Ḥaver, Samuel b. Solomon, and the Aleppan agent Joshua (אלחלבי האפיטרופוס)
Sicily was part of the Maghreb at that time.
